At the beginning of September, First Person Plural will receive a facelift. I'll write more on that later. Today, I want to share this message from our Friends at Split This Rock! First, a congratulations are due to them--read below to find out why.
Then, hey, a good cause to support:
It’s a momentous time at Split This Rock! Sarah is back from a year in Italy and Melissa has gotten a fabulous fellowship to spend seven months writing poetry at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA. In the midst of these transitions, Split This Rock continues to thrive. We’ve just been awarded our non-profit status! And we’ve got a great slate of poets lined up for the March 2010 festival, which is only months away. (Check them out at http://splitthisrock.org/poets2010.html.)
So we’re having a party!! Thursday, August 27, 6-8 pm for a Happy Hour in the Langston Room at Busboys and Poets, 14th and V Streets, NW. Suggested donation is a modest $10-$25, sliding scale. Please come celebrate, learn more about volunteer opportunities with Split This Rock, make a donation, bid on exciting auction items (including a week at the fabulous writers’ retreat center, Wellspring House), chow down on yummy Busboys and Poets-donated snacks, quaff Split This Rock-specific cocktails, hear poetry from Regie Cabico and DC youth and 2010 Split This Rock featured poet A.B. Spellman, and preview our promotional video!
