The Memorial Day Writers Project Open Mic

The Memorial Day Writers Project will hold its open mic venue on the Mall Nov 11, 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM, adjacent to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The event is open to the public. Bring your original poems, prose, song or a funny story. Come and listen to the songs of Jonathan Myer, an O-1E pilot who worked over the DMZ and the Ho Chi Minh Trail; Dick Richards, the award-winning author and song writer from the 1st Cav who sings about his time at Khe Sanh and Bong Son; and excerpts from ‘Your Hero and Mine, Scott,” letters from a 19-year-old embedded reporter with the 101st Airborne unit; and many others. Come and listen to the poetry of grunts, medics, marines and airmen. Come to listen or come to participate at the “Writer’s Tent” on the Mall.
